Who wanted a mobile child??

Kara is all over the place now. She figured out this weekend how to go up the dogs steps and get on the couch. She knows she's not suppose to climb the steps so when she gets up on the couch, she just starts laughing. Baxter is in trouble now!

I know I am doing something I'm not suppose to...

I'm up!

where did Baxter go?

Happy Birthday!!!

She made as big of a mess as she could!

Happy Birthday to me!

riding with my bestie, Linley.

love riding in my coupe car

We had Kara's first birthday party yesterday. I've never seen her grin so big. She had a blast. We had everyone bring riding toys and we put them in the gym and they rode around. Then we had pizza and cake. We appreciate everyone who came and enjoyed this day with us. Big thanks to our bestie, Rusty, who took all the pics so we could enjoy the day with Kara. I can't believe it's almost been a year.

11 months old

Where has the past year gone??? It is flying by. I am already planning Kara's first birthday. I even mailed the invitations yesterday....I just can't believe it. Can't believe that this time last year there was a little girl swimming around in my belly...now I have a big girl here who is growing up way too fast. WOW!

She loves to eat. She will eat just about anything we give her. I can't think of anything that she doesn't like. Her fav is macaroni & cheese. If she has any macaroni on her plate, she eats it first and then eats everything else.

She is pulling up and standing in her crib now. So getting her to go to bed at night has started to become a task. But once she lays down she is a snoozer like her momma. We don't hear a peep from her until she wakes up in the morning. She likes to sleep up on her knees with her butt up in the air. Doesn't seem very comfortable but whatever!

Beach trip

Kara went on her first beach trip and she loved it! She's gonna be a little fish. Loved the pool and loved the ocean. Scott put her down in the waves and she would jump up and down when he would stand up. We also went to the aquarium, built a doggie at Build-a-bear and then rode the carousel. She enjoyed it all!

9 months old! Silly girl

9-10 months

For some reason, I've been dying for Kara to become mobile...trying to figure out what the heck I was thinking!! She started crawling, by huge surprise to us, on May, 12, 2011. We thought she would skip crawling and go straight to walking as she showed no interest in crawling. Every time we would put her on her knees, she would roll over to her belly. All she wanted to do was stand up. But all of a sudden, I was cooking dinner (yes, you read that correctly) and Scott was sitting in the floor with her, a cup rolled too far out of her reach and she went from a sitting position to her knees and just pulled herself across the floor. We both just sat there with our mouths open. She's not really crawling a lot but she's getting around. She likes crawling better in her room where there is carpet. She doesn't really like the hardwoods.

July 12, 2010

What a wonderful day! Kara decided to be quick and after 9 hours of labor she was here. My contractions started while we were at dinner around 7:30 and at 4:26 the next morning she was here. Not to say we didn't have quite an adventure for those 9 hours but everyone has their own story.

While we were at dinner, I started to have contractions. We were with Rusty & Catherine and Rusty noticed that I kept hitting the button on my phone to check the time, every 5 minutes or so. He asked if I was ok and said that my face was showing that I was not ok. So after timing contractions for 45 minutes we decided to head to the hospital. Oh, did I mention it was monsooning outside? Yes, it was POURING down rain so we had to figure out how to get the car to the door for me to get to the car. Anyway, we get to the hospital and I was dialated to a 4 (which I had been for 4 days already). They put me in triage and called the dr. He told me to go home and go to my appt the next day. So they discharged me and sent me home. Before we even got home, I had Scott call my brother who was coming to stay with the dogs and have him come to our house as I knew we would be going back to the hospital SOON. By the time Brandon got to our house, it was 10:30 so we left for the hospital again. Forgot to tell you....I was doubled over in pain by the time Brandon got there...literally laying on my knees in front of the couch. We head back to the hospital. When I got back, the triage nurse was standing at the counter and she said "Oh, you're back? You look like you're in more pain this time." REALLY??? You think??!! So we go back to traige, she checks me and I'm dialated to a 7. Who whoo!!! She's coming today!! By the time they got me into a delivery room, I was dialated to an 8 and they gave me the epidural. Let's just say I was feeling GOOD by then! The epidural gave me the shakes though. It looked like I was freezing....just uncontrollable shaking. Scott kept asking if I was ok but the nurse told him that it was normal to get the shakes. After the epidural the dr came in and broke my water and within an hour I was pushing. I pushed for 20 minutes, the dr came in and she was out in 2 more pushes. It was quite an amazing experience. The dr was wearing glasses so I could see everything that was happening in the reflection of his lenses. Scott got to cut the cord. He tried to video the delivery but they wouldn't let him. I have to say it was quite and amazing experience that I will never forget...at least the hopsital made it eventful for me so it will be hard to forget.

Kara arrived weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces and 20.5 inches long. I don't remember much of being in the hospital. I was looking at the hospital pics the other day and there were pics of her crying and I asked Scott, "did she cry at the hospital?" and he said "you must have been on some good drugs". haha We spent 3 days in the hospital and then brought her home to meet Bax & Fiona. They were so excited and have been exceptionably wonderful with her.

It's been a while.....a LONG while!

This is her favorite toy right now. She is scooting backwards. She goes real fast once she gets on the hardwoods. Slides everywhere! She started on the rug, about where Baxter is sitting and ended up in the corner. Then she started yelling cause she couldn't get out of the corner. This is Kara & her bestie Linley. Linley is Rusty & Catherine Wise's daughter. They are 10 weeks apart.

So as you can see I started this blog a long time ago with the intention of keeping up with it and sharing updates. Since my last post was over a year ago and Kara is finally here, it seems I have been a little slack. My husband has decided that we need to keep up with the blog, ie: I'm going to have to keep up with the updates. =) I guess it is a good way to keep our family updated or to share pics. Lord knows we take enough. Anyway...Kara is 2 weeks shy of 9 months old. She LOVES to stand. I don't think she will ever crawl because she hates to be on her belly. If you try to sit her down, she buckles her legs and wants to stand. She especially loves that Baxter runs up and jumps up to kiss her when she's stand. Baxter always knows how to make her laugh. He was actually the first one to get her to laugh. Scott & I tried & tried...Baxter sneezed one night and Kara just giggled. Needless to say, Scott & I will do just about anything to get her to laugh cause it's just the most precious giggle in the world. She started to clap the other day. Real claps. She was clapping the back of one hand but she's got them both turned the right way now. She loves to wave...waves bye to Bax & Nona every morning when we leave. Kara has started to eat table food. She loves to eat. There is really nothing that we've given her that she has refused. You can tell that by her belly. ;) She's had real chicken, turkey, green beans, carrots, cantelope, and peas. And she LOVES cold water. She's starting to switch over from bottles to sippy cups. I would love when she has switched over fully and I don't have to wash bottles anymore. That will be nice.

It's been a while...but It's a Girl!!

11 weeks

20 weeks bump

4D Ultrasound

It's a girl!

Got her leg over her head, stretching to get warmed up for karate. Her daddy is so excited!!

For some reason, I stopped writing anything on this blog, not sure why...I guess just laziness. Anyway, here is what all has gone on since November 20.

We had had our 11 week appt in December. Everything was good. My nausea finally went away around 13 weeks and since then I've been eatin' good. =) Gravy biscuits have been my staple for breakfast for the last 14 weeks. My friends at Hardees love me. I really haven't had any cravings. Reese cups and chocolate milk are a normal day craving so I don't count that as a "pregnancy craving".

Our next appt was suppose to be the 2o week appt on March 2nd where we were going to find out the sex and have a full body ultrasound. We got a little impatient and on Valentine's Day, I surprised Scott with a ultrasound at Baby Impressions in Greenville to find out that we are having a girl. We weren't going to tell anyone until we had our March 2nd ultra sound but then my mom found out about a consignment sale so I told my parents that night so mom & I could shop. And boy did we, haha.

We had our 20 week ultrasound today. Everything looked good. The ultrasound lasted an hour and they looked at everything. They looked at all the chambers of the heart and the blood flow, measured all the bones including the legs and arms, looked at the skull & brain....everything!
But she's still a girl so that was good news, especially for all the stuff we've bought. =)

We have decided to paint the baby's room brown. I still haven't decided on bedding or what I want to do in the room yet. Scott wanted to paint the room pink but I'm sure we're going to be seeing plenty of pink so I finally got him to ok brown. We also bought our furniture. It's ready for us to pick up, we're just waiting on the room to be painted (which should be this week).

I go to my ob on Thursday so I guess I'll find out then what all comes next. I was suppose to go today but because of the snow they were closing early so they asked me to reschedule. (Have I mentioned that I'm tired of this weather???) Until next time....

First Dr's appt

November 20, 2009---We had our first Dr's appointment today. We got there at 9:08 (appt at 9:10) and didn't go back until 10:00. I first met this bubbly lady who said we were checking to see how many babies we were having. I told her we hoped there was just one. =) Then I had to pee in a cup. They put us in another waiting room for the ultra sound. We got to see and hear the heart beat. It was so neat. It was amazing that something so small could have a heart beat which was even smaller. The heart beat was at 112 which she said was normal but slow (she then said that people say that means boy). She printed out some pics for us. We met with one of the doctors who went over everything from the ultra sound and discussed the next visit. My due date is July 14. They said they could get a better due date on the next appt which is Dec 22. I asked them to get as close to Christmas as they could since we are planning on telling our parents then. So we just want to make sure everything is ok before.

It's a little more real now, I guess.

Bet you never thought you'd hear this...

I found out Sunday that I am pregnant. I go to the doctor on Friday to find out "for sure" and how far along I am. We were suprised but not shocked. I have been off my birth control pills since July and have had my period every month since (last month was very light and nothing like it usually is, but it at least showed up so I thought nothing of it) but when the nausea hit me like a ton of bricks on Sunday, I took a test just to see and sure nuff...it was positive. Since then, I have barely been able to eat. I haven't thrown up but just been extremely nauseated and tired. I'm not sleeping good (sick and my mind going in circles) which doesn't help with being tired. So, I'm already losing sleep....go figure! The one thing I didn't want to do (lose sleep) is already happening...and I still have a LONG way to go.

We are excited though. I don't think it's sunk in yet...not quite sure when it will. We are waiting to tell our parents. We have told work just because of doctors appointments and because I've been sick. The internet thinks I'm around 7 to 8 weeks so 12 weeks will be around Christmas so we're going to try to save the news until then...we'll see. I'm horrible at keeping secrets. =)
